(Start at the beginning HERE.)
Head of the Church" - Day 8 Colossians 1:17-18 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Christ is also the HEAD OF THE CHURCH, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. Some people have a great fear about stepping into a church, maybe they have been hurt by Christians in the past, maybe they have a particular fear about the place itself, regardless in this day and age the word "church" isn't always associated with good feelings. However, here in this verse, we are told the church is Christ's body. So, even if you are a Christian, but have seen abuses in the church or the broken people that are there, just remember that the building is nothing - just a place. And the people are just arms, legs, and eyes of Christ's body - not perfect, but trying to be guided by a perfect presence. (Have you ever tried to make your body do something and it couldn't?) And someday, when we all get new bodies, Christ's body will be made perfect and complete again - thanks be to God!
