"Chief Cornerstone" - Day 28

Ephesians 2:20-22 ...built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the CHIEF CORNERSTONE. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

These verses explain it perfectly. When constructing a building, the very first stone to be laid would guide all of the others into place - this was the chief cornerstone. Therefore, it had to be perfect, completely level and sure in order for the other stones to match up and for the foundation to be secure. However, if we make Jesus our foundation, our lives won't fall into place and each day will be a perfect one as some might believe. Rather, when we make Jesus our foundation, we gain HIMSELF (and all he entails: an advocate, a guardian, a rock), and all eternity to know him better. Let's be thankful that we can have such a wonderful foundation!
