Day 8 - The blood of Jesus to save the sin of the world
Prophesied in Scripture: For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. Leviticus 17:11
Fulfilled in Scripture: God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Romans 3:25-26
Most of us lead very sheltered lives. We don't see atrocities, natural disasters, or wars first-hand. However, in this world there are many evils and tragedies. Some of them are so egregious that it is hard to imagine restitution could ever be had. But God found a way. In older times, the cost was a life for a life. However, multiplying deaths doesn't change things and it can't erase the past. Only Jesus as the conquerer of death can recreate the world as it should be. By freely giving his perfect life, his blood, he atoned for the past and paved a way to our future. Let us be so thankful that one day we will be in heaven with Jesus - with all wrongs righted and all sins forgiven, with no more mourning, death, crying or pain. Thank you Lord!
