Day 11 - Jesus in agony separated from God
Prophesied in Scripture: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? Psalm 22:1
Fulfilled in Scripture: About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[c] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). Matthew 27:46
Jesus felt his heartstrings pulled until they broke. If you have felt it before, you know what I am talking about. A sorrow so great that you feel immense physical pain. Christ IDENTIFIES with our suffering! Take a moment to think about that - a perfect God in the throes of agony. To truly know someone, they say you must take a walk in their shoes. But to know our hearts, Jesus moved himself into the deepest darkest parts of our soul. He came into this darkness so he could pull us out of it. He conquered our pain and fears, and cannot WAIT to bring us to heaven to live with him as our conquerer in his new and perfect world - the shadow of our sorrows replaced with the glowing heart of the Savior who KNOWS us! Thank you so much Lord for your precious Son!
