Day 15 - Jesus is our new covenant
Prophesied in Scripture: “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. Jeremiah 31:31
Fulfilled in Scripture: Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:27-28
Jesus exchanged the old law with its sacrifices made by the people to God, for a new law in which God made the ultimate sacrifice for His people. But some people preferred the old ways because they were more familiar, and because they thought they were in control of the rules. Christ offered them a better way, but their hearts were so hard that they not only rejected him, but they murdered him. We also struggle with change, and fully transforming our lives for Jesus. But how small a price is that to pay after all he has done for us - his life for ours in a new covenant? Let us all actually show our thanks by how we live.
