But by my Spirit
"So he said to me, 'This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. 'What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!' ’” - Zechariah 4:6-7
What is the most impossible thing you can think of? What action in your mind would bring the greatest glory to God's kingdom? Now combine the two - that is what we see happening in Zechariah. Zerubbabel (whose name basically just means "guy from Babylon") was the first to lead back Jews to Jerusalem and restore the temple with gold from the king of Babylon. This is completely bonkers impossible. Conquering kingdoms did not (and do not) lavishly provide their conquered subjects with provisions and wealth to rebuild their cities and places of worship, and they also don't freely release 42,000+ prisoners of war. But by the SPIRIT this (and more!) is easily done. God has NO limits when it comes to rescuing His children and rebuilding His kingdom (in spite of all we do to run away and tear it down). He will move mountains for us, He will come to us, He will rebuild His temple in our hearts - by His Spirit. There is no earthly might or power that can rival our Creator's Will to love us deeply in every way possible, and impossible. Thanks be to God!
