"For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope... The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." -Galatians 5:5-6
Even though Jesus has already come, this world is imperfect, wrapped in darkness until He comes again. Until that time, we must wait. We wait with hope, we wait with expectation as we long for our new bodies and our records of wrongs to be expunged. But before we have true righteousness, the kind of shining perfect righteousness that covers our Savior, how should we live? With a reverent, trembling fear of God, with a thankful demeanor, but most of all the overflowing of the Holy Spirit in our hearts manifesting by acts of loving kindness. Apparently, this is "the only thing that counts"! If you have faith that Jesus is the resurrected perfect Son of God, then His love should so fill you up that it can't help but spill out into your world. Love for your family, friends, neighbors, strangers, animals (Proverbs 12:10), and the earth (Genesis 2:15). No matter what, let's love well - it's the only thing that counts!
