Year of the Lord's Favor
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor." -Isaiah 61:1-2, and Jesus speaking out the fulfilling of this prophecy ~700 years later in Luke 4:18-19
The season of Advent is upon us! We continue to be thankful for Jesus - His coming and His Spirit sent to us, and we cannot WAIT for His second return when He finishes the work He started. Christ in us, God among us, our Interceder taking shelter in our hearts. This shatters and rebuilds the universe. Nothing else matters. God is a god of good news, freedom, healing, and favor. He blesses beyond measure. What kind of alluring/divine/exalted/unparalleled love is this? To sacrifice yourself for a loved one is noble. To sacrifice yourself for your enemy is saint-like. But to sacrifice your innocent child to those who hate them is sacred, holy to God, set apart, unique in all the universe. Our Father, ripped apart the curtain to the holy of holies with the purest blood of His little boy, His only Son. This, my dear ones, is what sets Christianity apart. This is how you see God's grand rescue plan for us, and no further explanation is needed for faith in Him. For us, living in a post Spirit-given world, EVERY year is the Lord's favor because we can have Jesus in our hearts!
I took these pictures two days ago. There's not a photo beautiful enough to capture what Jesus means to me, so I just wanted to show something simple, but real and true. Jesus is not here with us physically, but He leaves His imprint on our hearts with His Spirit.
