"Husband" - Day 37

2 Corinthians 11:1-3

I hope you will put up with me in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me! I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one HUSBAND, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

I pray for those of you married and yet to be married that you will only and always be devoted to your spouse. The funny thing about marriage is that "butterflies" come and go, but a commitment lasts forever. Choosing to love forever, and then enacting it unconditionally, allows the seed of hopeful uncertainty to blossom into gracious joy and a peace that passes understanding (much better than "butterflies"!). However, with Christ as our husband, we have the great happiness of skipping the uncertainty in the beginning because we KNOW he love us. He proved his grand desire for us on the cross. And for those of you not married - be joyful! Your attention is not divided and your husband is solely Christ - revel in his perfect, constant, unending love! Let's give thanks that Jesus, our husband, took us as his own to love until the end of time and beyond!
