"One and Only Son" - Day 38

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his ONE AND ONLY SON, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God had one chance at redeeming the world.  He put all His hope in Jesus.  God picked out exactly the right place and time for His only child to be born.  God found earthly parents who were obedient and full of faith to raise His little boy.  God watched from afar as His bundle of joy fell and scrapped his knees as a toddler, swelled with love as his adolescent recited His law in the temple, and His heart was torn as His fully grown son was brutally tortured by the people he came to save.  Finally, God had to hear the most gut-wrenching words a parent can ever hear - "Why have you forsaken me?"  This Christmas, as beautiful as the Nativity scene is, let's look at Jesus through the eyes of his heavenly Father. To know all he would go through from the moment he was born - God bore all the joys and greatest sorrows of a father in His only son Jesus.  Let's give thanks that God selflessly gave us His sweet little boy Jesus - God's most precious possession!
