"Chosen One" - Day 52

Isaiah 42:1-4

“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my CHOSEN ONE in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope.”

Jesus was very specifically chosen to do the exact tasks God set before him.  His personality, characteristics, appearance, culture, etc were all finely tuned to match God's master plan.  And if we walk closely enough with him, we can find the same thing in our lives.  The Bible is rich in many ways Jesus was chosen, but just here in Isaiah we see specifically that he was chosen: to carry God's Spirit, to bring justice, to be quiet, to be gentle and life-giving, to be faithful, to be perfect, to persevere, to teach, and to foster hope.  What an amazing list of qualities!  Thank you God for your chosen son Jesus, and please Lord, help us to be more like him!
