Day 4 – Christ doing God’s will
Prophesied in Scripture: Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—but my ears you have opened—burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart. Psalm 40:6-8
Fulfilled in Scripture: “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. John 4:34, Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—I have come to do your will, my God.’”Hebrews 10:5-10
In John 4, Jesus brings a Samaritan woman and a whole village to eternal life. It is this act that he calls his “food”, this is what keeps him going. Carrying out God’s will to save the lost and to heal the brokenhearted – that is what this life is all about. It is Christ’s commission, and it is also ours. Thank God for Christ saving us and bringing us into a “happily ever after” as a part of his family forever – let’s carry on the good work!
