Day 13 - Jesus will be filled with God's Holy Spirit

Prophesied in Scripture: The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2

Fulfilled in Scripture: At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:9-11, also referenced in Matthew 3:16-17, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:32-34, and Acts 10:38

Jesus was able to do all that he did because he had God's own Holy Spirit living inside him. We need this same gift! The Holy Spirit is freely given, let's open up our hearts to receive this Counselor! In all 4 gospels, it does not talk about Jesus really starting his ministry until after he had the Holy Spirit. In Acts, the believers didn't go out and spread the good news successfully until after they received the Holy Spirit. And they propagated the spread of the Holy Spirit. The fact of the matter is: if Christ himself needed God's Holy Spirit to do what he did, then it is no less than blasphemy to think we on our own power can do more than him without the Spirit. Thank you God for offering your wise and omnipotent soul, your Holy Spirit, to us! Let us gratefully accept this gift with hearts wide open, and more so, let us USE this gift for the kingdom as Jesus did!
