Day 20 - Christ to die for people

Prophesied in Scripture: “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the Lord Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. Zechariah 13:7

Fulfilled in Scripture: But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. John 19:33, 34

It may sound dramatic - that Jesus had to die to save the world. And it also seems harsh that God would kill his son and turn his hand against his children.  But God's wisdom is not our wisdom and his ways our not our ways. This is his masterful story, his plot line, his direction.  In this world, it is vitally important to realize that we have roles to play, and the best we can hope to achieve is to live into our director's vision. He very carefully casted us in exactly the spaces we were meant to fill, that suited our talents. And as for Jesus, he lived out this verse: "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Rom 14:8).  Let's be thankful that Jesus lived for God in his ministry, died for God to save mankind, and then rose again living for God as a conquerer of death.  And remember that no matter what your role looks like now, because of Jesus all who believe in Him get the same wonderful happy ending.
