Day 27 - Jesus worthy of tribute
Prophesied in Scripture: May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts. May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him. Psalm 72:10,11
Fulfilled in Scripture: After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:1,11
Journeys in the time of Christ's birth were not easy. Navigation was difficult, roads were hard to follow - sometimes nonexistent , and there was no telling if you would make it through all the possible dangers. For kings to leave their lands to go see a child with no earthly power or title to speak of was unheard of. But these kings did it, just based on a promise from a star. They went through great effort to see a small boy. However, it was entirely right of them to do so. Christ deserves all our attentions and more. He is so very worthy of praise. Let us make the effort to seek him with all our being!
