Day 30 - Jesus as a man of sorrow
Prophesied in Scripture: He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isaiah 53:3
Fulfilled in Scripture: Jesus wept. John 11:35, And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. Luke 19:41-42, And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” Matthew 26:37-38, And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:44
Our loving Savior lost his father and a dear friend to death, he cried for a whole city blinded by the world, his spirit was so downcast and troubled before his death that his body had an extreme physiological reaction to it. Dear ones, we do NOT have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with us. Everything we have felt - to the depths of our emotions, Christ is right there with us. He, our strong Savior, goes before us. There is nothing in our lives that touches our hearts where He is not there. He is our ever-present help in times of trouble. Whatever you are facing, I PROMISE you that Jesus is holding you in his arms. Believe in his love, because that is where our hope springs from - no matter what. Jesus, we love you and praise you for enduring sorrows so you could be nearest to our hurt hearts.
I took this photo after a storm poured out on us as we were making our way down a mountain near Lake Louise. We experienced rain at our altitude, but the tops of the mountains saw a blizzard.
