Wisdom is proved right

November 12, 2016

All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.  [And Jesus said]

"For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by all her children.”

When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.  Luke 7:29-30, 33-36

Not only did Jesus die for those he disagreed with, but he worked to know them.  He went to their houses, had dinner with them, talked with them.  In later verses, after those I referenced above, we see the Pharisee Jesus visited was extremely rude to him.  But Jesus reached out to him anyway.  Jesus could have gone to a home where he was well-loved, respected, and (for the most part) people agreed with him, but he didn't.  He sought the company of both.  And thank the Lord that he did!  Because I want Jesus to come into my home, into the hearts of myself and my family despite me hurting him again and again with my sin.  Wisdom to know how to mend fences produces children of other good deeds as people are spurred on by love.
