Do this

December 4, 2016

After taking the bread and giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying,

This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way, he took the cup after the meal and said,

"This cup is the new covenant by my blood, which is poured out for you."

Luke 22:17-20

Thankfully, Jesus doesn't give us a long list of difficult commands (as we see in the Old Testament), but he does have some requests for us.  In this case, he asks us to remember him when we break bread together.  Those of you raised in the faith may find taking communion tedious, or praying before every single meal redundant, but these are not insignificant things we do.  First of all, if Jesus tells you to do something - you do it!  No questions asked!  He's the Son of God!  Secondly, after all Christ has done for us, the very least we can do is to honor him in remembrance as eat.  Finally, we are setting an example.  While the words of Jesus will never pass away, it's up to us to be diligent to tell our friends and family what great things our Lord has done for us.
