You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. Matthew 5:21-22
Murder and anger make a person subject to judgment, but calling someone a fool puts you in danger of hell. Anger and rash decisions may flare up in the heat of the moment, but showing disdain for someone and insulting them shows a deeper issue. When you look down on someone, thinking they are less than you, this is a poison in the heart - and it grieves the Lord most deeply. Satan's sin was pride, and that got him thrown out of heaven. When we put ourselves above others, we are insulting God's family, his children. Oh God, help us see with your eyes! Father give us clean hearts, and help us to love as Jesus loved!
