"They made their hearts like flint so that they could not hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the Lord of hosts." -Zechariah 7:12
We must be faithful to God in all things, but the simplest and most difficult is listening and hearing Him. Nothing grieves a good Father more than when His children don't listen to him as he tries to tell him that he loves them, as he tries to warn them, and care for them. Yes, parents tell rules to their children, but getting them to listen to everything is also so very important as it grows their relationship with their children and teaches them to learn how to communicate well with the world. This practice of listening, hearing, understanding, and then responding is needed in every relationship in our lives. Our Heavenly Father knows we desperately must have these skills in order to love those around us well.
