"Brethren, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus." -Acts 1:16
If we are going to align ourselves with God, then we must realize that sometimes prophecies from Him are hard to hear. Prophets more often had bad news for people than good. The Bible is full of convicting words. In a day and age of grace to an extreme (until it becomes apathy), it is difficult to process justice. Here, the Holy Spirit is warning of a condemned betrayer. However, we know that God wants all people to be saved. Why does it seem like there is a contradiction here? It is hard to hear of betrayal and condemnation, but dear ones, we need to remember that this is just a mirror. Since we are fallen, broken, and turn our backs on God, He uses every method to show us the error of our ways. Judas had two options before him, and he freely chose the wrong one. Therefore, God is trying to show us what happens when we forsake Him. Let's take these examples and not repeat them, but rather live in God's freedom by obeying Him.
